Vegan menu items?
Great place for food and not expensive either! My friend and I ordered multiple items and all of them left us very satisfied! If you're contemplating which rice to get, always get brown. Only quirk being that the number 9 was disproportionately heavy on the dried cabbage.
MoreHey, folks. I came here from the Bay Area. To be honest, the restaurant has the best short ribs I have ever tried. However, the waiting list is way beyond my expectation. My gf and I took an hour and half to get a table. When we finally sat down and tried to enjoy our food. I saw a bunch of people staring at me through the window which made me feel a bit overwhelmed. Moreover, the food is a bit overpriced to me as well. We ordered the short ribs with grilled cheese on top, it costs $82 in total.
MoreThe restaurant is always full and you have to wait usually for about an hour (before COVID).This place is open for take out during COVID times. I called the store and I can already pick it up in 30mins. We ordered a large Koh Galbi Jjim with rice cake and cheese on top and it was SO GOOOD. Definitely worth it. They gave us banchan for 4 people too. I guess my only complain is that they didn't put a lot of cheese in my order, but it's still super delicious!
MoreTheir customer service is great. Professional staff provide quick and careful service. Not only the service, but their foods are also great. Popular foods include Galbi Jjim, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Galbi Tang, Beef Rib Soup, Purple Rice, and Oxtail Soup.
MoreOne of the best meals I've had while in Los Angeles. This place had a line up starting at 11AM, and this restaurant is 24 hours. Be prepared to wait but it is worth it to wait. The specialty of this place is the braised back and short ribs, that's mixed in with rice cakes, vegetables, and topped with cheese melted with a torch that is an extra option for you to add. The meat is very tender and flavorful, but is also a heavy meal as the dish also comes paired with rice and Korean side dishes. However, no matter how heavy it is, you still want to keep eating. The service is also amazing. The servers cut the meat off of the bone for you so that you can just enjoy eating your meal. Highly recommend trying this place if you're looking for a unique LA Korean restaurant.
MoreThis is like real good Korean food! I don't eat meat for more than half of my life, but whatever I am in K Town I like their chicken! It's just so delicious. They keep on bringing small side dishes, different kimchi's, potato salad, cucumber salad etc. I dined here several times over the years. They are very busy in the evening. Best time to come around 5-6 pm.
MoreIt was cold, rainy and there was long line of people waiting outside. Parking lot was very crowded so we had to park on the street. But the wait was worth it! Like other reviewers, I do agree $75 for Galbijjim is bit pricey but it was truly yummy! Spicy level was just right and their Galbitang was also a winner! I have never tasted this kind of rich broth! I recommend this place!! I would go again and again for sure!!! If you want to enjoy meal then try in between lunch and dinner time. It gets so busy I felt like I needed to hurry up and get out. Especially weekends are pretty crazy crowded.
MoreThe lines here are pretty long. Make sure your whole party is there and you need to put you order in before you get seated. The staff seem overwhelmed and aren't the most friendly as a result. Parking is difficult to find in the area, but thankfully there is a reasonably priced valet for $3. In the end, the food was good but didn't seem to justify the price, wait and quality of service. As a tourist visiting LA, nothing about this place screamed they it was worth visiting.
MoreIt’s the best ooguji chigae I’ve had in town! Very much what my grandmother would make!
MoreOrdered Galbi tang and it was bomb. We missed the wait time by a couple minutes but it seems like there’s usually a wait here. Came here for good korean food and it hit the spot 😋
MoreWe were visiting LA and a friend recommended this place for their braised galbi. It was delicious but we had to wait for almost 2 hours outside the restaurant. The place is really small and cramped. The staffs weren't friendly either. They were too busy to be friendly and we were rushed too. The bathroom was a disaster. Wet floor everywhere. Food is good, but I don't feel like it worths the 2-hour wait IMHO. We won't be back! Not worth the wait and place is not so clean!
MoreI WOULD REGRET SO MUCH IF I DIDNT GO HERE FOR GALBIJJIM WITH CHEESE
Please come at around 5:00pm to avoid the queues. The restaurant is kinda small but the food is amazing! Do add cheese on the dishes as it will be a feast both for viewing and for tasting.
MoreFood is good, but not worth the 1-2 hour wait outside. I saw other korean speaking people get a different kind of purple rice, but we were only given regular white rice without giving us that option. You check-in on your own, there are no seats around, you have to stay on the premises or else they skip you. Everyone is literally crowded at the entrance. The food was already on the table when we were called in, which was weird... This is a franchise and the prices at the other locations are much cheaper than this one.
MoreBEST MEAL I had on my trip, love that it’s 24 hours. I went super late night to avoid the wait. Went back twice in 5 days!!
MoreDefinitely going to come back here with a few more of my friends! The servings are pricey, but they're definitely meant to serve at least 3 people, and for the quality of the food you get, I wouldn't mind shelling out a bit more!
MoreWhat I love about them is their set of side dishes, just the right spiciness with sweet choices. I can get full by just eating the side dishes. The service was great, the servers were very attentive. Well lit room and the food was delectable.
MoreIt's a small place to have authentic Korean food. We waited for a while and waiting line wasn't really bad at that time. You have to make sure your name on the wait list when you get there. Food was great but staffs seems so busy and overwhelmed. Didn't feel friendly. If you are a tourist in LA, I think it is not worth it to visit.
MoreThis is my favorite galbijjim place in L.A. Bad thing is they only have spicy beef rib (not mild), but it comes with rice cake, potato and other vegetable and very delicious! The price is expensive, but it is big portion of variety selection of part of beef. We ordered one without cheese and one with cheese and the server made a fire at the table before serve the food!
MoreThe comfort of their galbi jjim with its flavorful stew topped with cheese just wraps you up like a blanket. This is where you go and share this comfort with your best friend after a bad day. It’s what you order to go and take to someone who is having a bad day. Jonathan Gold loved this place and it’s so easy to see why. Go there to be comforted on a bad day or go to celebrate a good day. Always order cheese on top no matter what though.
MoreExcellent food, with huge serving sizes. Bring your friends and everyone should bring an appetite.
MoreWe came here bcz it is quite popular, but honestly, not impressive... 24 dish is super sweet and mild spicy and oily, really tastes like American Chinese food... maybe that’s why people like this place? Overall, it’s like you eat orange chicken, American people love it. But it’s Bcz of sweet and oil. Well the bone soup is good. Tastes like pho soup. Not very special or super good really. Not even close. And food is pricey, one dish 64 dollars + 4 dollars cheese and 4 dollars rice. We two people spent 100. Service is not good since too many people waiting and eating. Overall, not recommended! Go find somewhere really good to try!
MoreHeard so much about this place and finally came here in the early Saturday morning around 8. The parking lot was full and there were lots of people waiting to dine in. I couldn't wait as I have an appointment at 9 and decided to order for take out. I hae a sulnongtang later when I got home, it was good and the meat slices were tender. Next time, I will try their spicy beef kimchi.
MoreBusy but at the same time fast 🤷♂️, guys working there move like they got superchargers on, food was great, definitely worth the price, parking is little hectic, tank god for the valet parking
MoreThe amazing soup had no picture because we devoured it quickly. The Galbi Jjim was spectacular to watch but the cheese somehow tasted weird & the potatoes didn’t taste cooked. But the super soft beef & chewy rice cake in their delicious sauce were really tasty.
MoreFood is great and the restaurant is very busy which I totally understand. The waiter messed up the queue and ended up completely skipping us and letting people who were here after us in first. I thought they were special guests initially but realized it was an honest mistake. I guess we could have monitored it more closely and caught it way in advance... instead we stood there and made fools out of ourselves.
MoreCleanliness and good guest service is not a priority here. Prices are typical for the area and type of food, which means not cheap. But it was very tasty. I cooked it myself after all😂
Morewent in the morning for some soup, had the worst yuk gae jang in my life, please do your tastebuds a favor and don’t order that dish. The seollong tang was ok but nothing too special. Side kimchi was also disappointing, I honestly don’t think Ill ever be back..
MoreWhat a gem on our 1 day in LA. We chose this location because it was near our AirBnB and highly rated. We arrived at 7pm on a weekday and there was a slight wait. The service was fast and friendly. We tried the prime rib dish with cheese, potatoes, and rice cakes... it was delicious! Everything was so flavorful and tender. It was pretty cool to watch the staff torch the cheese at our table, too. I can't wait to visit again.
MoreWorth the wait. Chances are if you go to Sun Nong Dan, you will have to wait. But don't let that deter you from eating there. They have you put your name on the list and then take your order while you are waiting. Once you sit down, you only have to wait maybe 10-15 minutes before your food arrives. Our group did the spareribs with cheese and it was life-changing. The meat was so tender, the cheesy super gooey, and the flavours went together like a match made in heaven. We also had two different soups that were out of this world. Make sure not to miss out on amazing Korean food and head here during your trip!
MoreThe Galbi Jim (Beef ribs) with rice cakes, cheese, and the sauce was the best. One of the greatest dish I've eaten. It was well prepared and there was a bit of a wait, but it's expected. A good place for lunch and the food quality is great.
MoreSo good!!! I had their beef stew clay pot with cheese on top!! A soup with oxtail & beef ribs! So delicious and hearty! Must come early since it will get pack for dinner time. It's good for a family of 3-4 for one dish. There's only a medium or large size.
MoreThis place is outstanding. Never regret going.
A little bit pricey for me. Soup has no taste at all. Their specialty menu is expensive and is only good for group sharing, not catered for a solo or couple
MoreWow the food there was absolutely delicious! Kudos to the staff there, they are super efficient, and dishes are served quickly. Recommend coming here if you enjoy Korean food. They've got you covered on both spicy and non spicy options.
